Description
Blackstrap molasses is made from the sugar cane byproduct known as raw sugar — the sugar comes out of the sugar mills after being processed into refined white sugar. It is made from granulated sugar and molasses, with the liquid being further filtered to produce blackstrap.
Blackstrap molasses is an excellent source of manganese, iron, calcium and magnesium nutrients, potassium, and vitamin B6. It’s also a good source of selenium, copper, and zinc.
Molasses is the great-granddaddy of versatile sweeteners, esp. in the world of beverages. Its complex flavor oscillates between rich and subtle, making it perfect for many recipes.
